What Sponsorship Involves

One sponsor, several eligibility checks — done right the first time.

Sponsoring family members in the UAE is processed through the Amer/GDRFA system — the same authority that governs residency more broadly. To sponsor a spouse, child or parent, the sponsor generally needs a valid UAE residence visa and a profession or salary that meets the requirement set by the immigration authority, along with suitable accommodation.

Each relationship has its own eligibility conditions — sponsoring a spouse differs from sponsoring a son, a daughter, or a parent, particularly around age and dependency requirements. Rather than assume a single rule applies, we check your specific case before you commit to gathering documents.

Please note: Eligibility rules — minimum salary, age limits for sons and daughters, and parent sponsorship conditions — are set by immigration authorities and can change. We confirm the current requirements against your specific case rather than quoting a fixed rule.

Family Visa FAQs

Common questions about family sponsorship.

What's the minimum salary required to sponsor family?

Immigration authorities set a minimum salary or profession requirement for sponsors, and this can vary depending on who you're sponsoring and can change over time. Rather than quote a fixed figure, we'll confirm the current requirement against your actual salary and role.

Is there an age limit for sponsoring my son or daughter?

Age and eligibility rules differ for sons and daughters, and can include exceptions such as ongoing education. These conditions are set by immigration authorities and can change, so we'll check your child's specific age and situation before advising.

Can I sponsor my parents?

Yes, in many cases, though parent sponsorship typically comes with additional income and dependency requirements compared to sponsoring a spouse or child. Tell us your situation and we'll confirm what applies.

Do marriage and birth certificates need to be attested first?

Usually, yes — these certificates typically need to be legalised through MOFA (and sometimes the issuing country's authorities) before they're accepted for sponsorship. We can handle this attestation as part of the same request if it hasn't been done yet.

Can I sponsor family members while I'm on a visit visa myself?

Generally, no — sponsoring family typically requires the sponsor to already hold a valid UAE residence visa. If you're not yet a resident, we can advise on the sequence of steps needed before family sponsorship becomes possible.
