What Amer Covers

GDRFA's residency system, without the queue.

Amer centres are Dubai's authorised touchpoints for the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) — the authority that governs who can legally reside in the emirate and under what status. Every residence visa a company or individual holds passes through this system at some point: on issuance, on renewal, and on cancellation.

BAEZ handles the Amer side of your residency file as your registered typing and submission partner — preparing applications correctly the first time, lodging them through the Amer system, and tracking them until your visa or status is confirmed.

Note the distinction: Amer covers residency status through GDRFA. Work permits and labour contracts are filed separately through Tasheel with MOHRE — for an employment visa, both usually run side by side.

Amer Service FAQs

Common questions about residency transactions.

What's the difference between Amer and Tasheel?

Amer handles your residency status through GDRFA — the visa stamped in your passport and your Emirates ID. Tasheel handles the labour side through MOHRE — your work permit and employment contract. For a standard employment visa, both typically run together; we can manage either or both for you.

Can I change my status without leaving the UAE?

In many cases, yes — an in-country status change lets you convert a visit visa or existing status to a residence visa without an exit-and-return trip, provided your case is eligible. Share your current visa details and we'll confirm if this route applies to you.

How long does a new residence visa take?

Timelines depend on the visa category, whether a medical test is required, and how complete your documents are. Once we see your specific case, we'll give you a realistic timeframe and keep you updated at each stage.

What happens if my visa is cancelled?

After cancellation, you're generally allowed a limited grace period to leave the country, change status, or secure a new sponsor before your stay becomes irregular. If you're facing a cancellation, contact us as early as possible so we can advise on your specific timeline and next steps.

Can I add my spouse or children to my residency file?

Yes — sponsoring dependents is a common Amer transaction, usually alongside the additional steps in our Family Visa Process. We can walk you through eligibility and the required documents for each dependent.
